Standard favicon dimensions

Client

“Standard favicon dimensions” is the chart intent—square pixels teams expect in HTML, manifests, and CMS fields. See the full table, upload your logo, export one size at a time.

Using the chart as a spec

Copy the table into internal docs. For each row, note which HTML link rel, manifest entry, or CMS field consumes that PNG. Keeps design, dev, and marketing aligned.

Standard favicon sizes

Square PNGs are typical. Pick one target size below after upload, or use the favicon generator to download every common size at once.

SizeTypical use
16×16Classic browser tab icon (1× DPI)
32×32Tab icon on retina / Windows shortcut
48×48Windows site pinned tile
64×64High-DPI tab fallback, some extensions
96×96Google TV / some launcher grids
128×128Chrome Web Store listing icon
180×180Apple touch icon (iOS home screen)
192×192Android Chrome / manifest icon
256×256Desktop PWA / maskable baseline
512×512PWA splash / maskable icon

WordPress favicon size

Under Appearance → Customize → Site Icon, WordPress expects a square image at least 512×512 px. The CMS scales it down for browser tabs and the admin bar. Upload a logo, then export 512px below—or use the favicon generator for a full PNG set.

Favicon .ico size

A classic favicon.ico file is not one pixel dimension—it bundles multiple square layers (16×16, 32×32, 48×48 px are typical). Browsers pick the best layer for the tab. This page exports PNG at one size; download 16, 32, 48 px separately if you need to build an .ico offline.

We read width and height locally, then resize with center crop. Max 8 MB.

Export size

?

Choose the pixel size your HTML link, manifest, or platform expects. Preview shows how center crop will look at that size.

Common use cases

  • Audit whether your design system lists the same sizes browsers expect.
  • Prepare a spec doc for contractors with concrete pixel rows.
  • Export each standard dimension from one uploaded master logo.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Listing only one dimension in the style guide

Document tabs, touch, and manifest rows together.

  • Using non-square dimensions in the spec

Favicon dimensions are square width×height in pixels.
