Favicon sizes
ClientSee every common favicon size in one chart, then upload a logo to export exactly the pixel square you need—tabs, Apple touch, PWA, or WordPress.
Standard favicon sizes
Square PNGs are typical. Pick one target size below after upload, or use the favicon generator to download every common size at once.
| Size | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 16×16 | Classic browser tab icon (1× DPI) |
| 32×32 | Tab icon on retina / Windows shortcut |
| 48×48 | Windows site pinned tile |
| 64×64 | High-DPI tab fallback, some extensions |
| 96×96 | Google TV / some launcher grids |
| 128×128 | Chrome Web Store listing icon |
| 180×180 | Apple touch icon (iOS home screen) |
| 192×192 | Android Chrome / manifest icon |
| 256×256 | Desktop PWA / maskable baseline |
| 512×512 | PWA splash / maskable icon |
WordPress favicon size
Under Appearance → Customize → Site Icon, WordPress expects a square image at least 512×512 px. The CMS scales it down for browser tabs and the admin bar. Upload a logo, then export 512px below—or use the favicon generator for a full PNG set.
Favicon .ico size
A classic favicon.ico file is not one pixel dimension—it bundles multiple square layers (16×16, 32×32, 48×48 px are typical). Browsers pick the best layer for the tab. This page exports PNG at one size; download 16, 32, 48 px separately if you need to build an .ico offline.
We read width and height locally, then resize with center crop. Max 8 MB.

Common use cases
- Answer “what are favicon sizes?” with a table you can bookmark before editing HTML or a web manifest.
- Pick 32×32 for browser tabs, 180×180 for iOS, or 512×512 for PWA splash without guessing.
- Compare sizes side by side, then download one PNG at the target you chose.
Common mistakes to avoid
Shipping only 16×16
Retina tabs and home-screen icons need larger squares. Most teams ship at least 32, 180, and 512 px.
Treating the chart as optional
Wrong dimensions cause blurry tabs or cropped logos. Match the platform row before export.
FAQ
What are the standard favicon sizes?
16, 32, 48, 64, 96, 128, 180, 192, 256, and 512 px squares are widely used for tabs, tiles, Apple touch, and PWA icons. The table on this page maps each to typical use.
Is favicon size the same as dimensions?
Yes—favicon size usually means width and height in pixels on a square image. Non-square uploads are center-cropped to a square on export.
