ICCID port-in check
ClientPort-in rejections often trace to mistyped SIM serials on intake forms. Paste the ICCID from the new carrier SIM before submitting port-in paperwork—catch length and Luhn errors early.
Port-in intake tip
Photograph the SIM barcode when possible, paste here, then copy validated digits into the port-in form—reduces transposition errors on long serials.
?
The ITU‑T E.118 layout follows ISO/IEC 7812 for card identifiers: a Major Industry Identifier (telecom ICCIDs usually start with 89), an issuer/country/account block, then a trailing Luhn mod‑10 check digit using the same doubling rule as many payment PAN validators. Printed cards commonly show 18–22 digits; issuers pin one length profile per range.
Result
Passes Luhn mod 10 on the full 19-digit string.
- MII (first 2):
89 - Issuer / account core (between MII and check):
3530012345678901 - Check digit (last):
1
Common use cases
- Retail port-in counter validation before POS submission.
- MVNO onboarding CSV cleanup.
- Compare port-in ICCID with SIM photo OCR output.
Common mistakes to avoid
Confusing port-in account PIN with ICCID
ICCID is the SIM serial—different field on forms.
Using old SIM ICCID on port-in to new carrier
Validate the new carrier SIM that will receive the ported number.
Expecting port-in eligibility from Luhn pass
Format check only—not porting rules or balance holds.
